What will the Fund do?
The Rainbow Alliance Fund will support LGBT studies at the University of Florida through support of annual competitive awards for student research or service. These awards have been given for two years by the LGBT Concerns committee of the student Senate, and the work produced with the aid of these awards has been outstanding. However, there is no consistent funding for this effort. The RA Fund will provide a stable source of funds for these awards.
The larger and more long term goal of the RA Fund is the establishment of an LGBT Resource/Studies Center at the University of Florida. Many universities now have resource centers, which act as focal points in efforts to ensure equality and diversity in the university environment.
