• Participated in Homecoming Parade
• 10/10 -- Elizabeth Birch, former director of the Human Rights Campaign to appear on campus

Gator Gay-Straight Alliance

• Working on non-gendered restroom (Concerns committee formed subcommittee to pursue this: Kendal Broad, Tamara Cohen, and Jennifer Sager)

LGBTQ Cabinet

• Preparing event for National Coming Out Day (Oct 11) -- Doors Project

Rainbow Alliance -- Charles Brown and Greg Allen

• Homecoming event scheduled for October 8
• Welcome Reception scheduled for October 20
• Evening with Ronni Sanlo scheduled for November 18
• Coordinating an alumni organization in Tampa

Friends -- Tamara Cohen

• 40 people attended Friends training on September 20

• Trying different formats

• Ronni Sanlo strategy planning retreat scheduled for Friday, November 18 -- intended for campus LGBT leadership
• Sexuality Conversation -- forum for faculty and graduate students to present research in LGBT; foster dialog, access
  • First event held for September 13 on transgender issues
  • Next event: November 14 -- "Neither in the Closet nor on the Balcony: Private Lives and Public Action in Nicaragua"
• Partner Benefits -- Kyle Cavanaugh (VP Human Resources) brought benefits to Rice and Utah; has received bid from HMO; employees must leave current plan to join

Agenda Items:

• Awards Subcommittee will be Geoffrey Giles, Tamara Cohen, and Joyce Dewsbury
• Transgender Support Subcommittee (Kendal Broad); may not be most effective as subcommittee
• Brown reported on progress in an ongoing grievance case
• Committee agreed to invite Kyle Cavanaugh to the next meeting to discuss discrimination and harassment reporting and procedures
