survey
Director of LGBT Affairs
-- Tamara Cohen
- Close to having anonymous
reporting system
- Lavender Graduation tentatively
set for 4/18 or 4/20
- Domestic benefits: working
on "soft" benefits then health benefits. Machen says
to play waiting game. Committee request Machen come to explain
his strategy and timetable.
Agenda Items:
- No nominations yet received
for Awards; extended deadline to March 22.
- The committee has received
a request from John Ingram to be an ex officio member; do we
want to have such positions? Much discussion centered around
having fixed positions with representatives from Housing, Police,
Library, Student Health Center, Athletics/Sports. Next meeting
we will conceptualize the structure and future of the committee.
Meanwhile, we will invite Ingram to come to meetings, which are
open.
- College of Education planning
diversity training September 21. Other units could piggy back
on that date - contact Tamara.
- Incidents of Homophobia or
Harassment: In soliciting the Greeks, the fraternities were inappropriate;
one incident at Shands. Someone (Cohen or Committee?) needs to
track incidents in number and detail for comprehensive analysis.
- Plan to request Administration
to add "gender identity and expression" to anti-discrimination
policy. (Another discussion matter for Machen.)
